the story

Something feels off, like a road you’ve driven a hundred times but suddenly can't recognize. What’s different? Oh, right—everything.

Chevron called on Scholar to take the wheel in reimagining the Chevron world from the ground up. This film cruises into a whole new landscape, introducing fresh cars, characters, and that unmistakable Chevron humor. We begin in a friendly neighborhood, the gateway to an expansive world just beyond. As our story accelerates, we get an inside look at this world in full motion—not some empty studio backlot, but a vibrant place full of life. Roads twist and wind, taking us from bustling town centers to the outskirts, where mountains and hills rise like the contours of a winding drive.

And let’s not forget to thank Chevron with Techron—because, honestly, what’s a road trip without the best fuel for the journey?

looking
for A World

When our friends at Chevron approached Scholar, they weren’t just looking for style, they were looking for a world. A world where their cars could feel alive. From day one, we dove in headfirst, building this world from the ground up. My role was to envision and bring that world to life, every detail, from the tiniest leaf fluttering by to the mud playfully clinging to the driver’s door. Every detail was crafted with care, driving the delicate line between cartoon and grounded realism. We wanted it to feel both enchanting and real, like something you could almost step into.

Below are a few style frames I helped develop to explore the look and style of the world.

“a story of color and feeling.”

“stylized enough to still feel realistic in proportions, but not create an uncanny valley feeling..”
